Pin stock for Case shields

Post by Jeffinn »

I’m working on a Case knife with a pinned shield.
The pins appear to be approx. 1.2 mm. Is there a source out there for nickel silver pin stock in that small of a size?
Thanks.
Jeff

A lot of people use jeweler's wire. It is n/s.

Jeff, I generally use either 16 gauge or 18 gauge ns wire on most Case shields. I think 1/16" rod works on the larger shields. I have a spool of each wire and will be happy to send you a piece of each if you can wait a few days for the mail.

That’d be great!
I’ll need to order some for future use but if you can send me a few pieces that’ll get me through this current project.
Thanks!

In the mail tomorrow. I have only needed to use the 18 gauge on some very small shields. If there is any wiggle room, I just drill out the holes so that the 16 gauge fits tight. Likewise, if there is any spare room with the 16, I just drill out to fit 1/16" ns rod.
