I made it out to the shop yesterday. Man it was good to be back out there. Anyway I was working on a special knife for a good friend of mine and I got a little frustrated so I decided to take a break from it and this Buck was my escape. This 110 is a 2 dot which I believe is dated from 74-80. I purchased this knife some time back because I wanted to put stag on a 110. When I received the knife it was beat up with a piece missing in the wood and the bolsters looking like they were in a knife fight and lost. I may have to put this pictures up in two sections. Let me know what you think. Boy it sure is nice to post something. Thanks everyone.

The photos look fine to me.

The best version (pre-1980) of the 110 needs the best scales. Great job! My great-uncle really beat the one that would become mine up. The scales are dinged up like that in a few places, and even a circular spot that suggests it was used to hammer on a pipe. Blade's also seen a belt sander. Took a little work on diamond stones, but I got a pretty good edge back on it.

From use, I've noticed that of the three steels my 3 110s are in (440C, 420HC, CPM-154), the 440C holds an edge longer. It's pre Edge-2X, pre-Bos heat treat; and still outperforms a supposed modern super-steel; supposedly equivalent to S30V.

Ed I'm glad you are feeling well enough to amble back to the craftsman's corner and turn out a beauty. Not a real buck 110 fan but you made that one really desirable! Don't forget to post pic's of the other knife your working on. Glad you are progressing health wise. ::nod:: ::nod::

OTOH, I love 110's and love what you did to that one. It looks like it's supposed to.
