Old Timer 51 OT clean-up

Post by Meridian_Mike »

I was a bit sad to see this 51 OT in person when it showed up last Friday. So, I figured I would have to give it a good clean-up over the weekend. The scales were all scuffed up and nasty looking. The tip had been broken off and was rounded out by someone. Peck marks all over the place where it was thrown down and run over (??). AND.... my main pet peeve... somebody had used it as a wedge and hammered on the back. (That one thing just makes me so mad)

I sanded and sanded until I got it to a presentable state, Now, it is "streetable".

And now.....

She still has scars from all the abuse but she feels MUCH better now.

Good job! To me that is one of the pleasures of knifing, cleaning up one that has been neglected and/or abused!

Thanks!!
That is where I get the pleasure of collecting too. I like bringing one back to life better than just buying a new one and putting it on the shelf. You get really intimate with a knife when you do a good clean up on it.
