Boker Solingen Congress

Sometime back, I got this Boker congress to work on. The owner was only interested in new covers, and maybe turning it into a 2 blade, as one of the blades was broken. However, always liking a challenge, I was able to find a replacement blade. I also had some help from Ricky (RangerBlueDog) in finding a period shield. Here's a little before and after...

That looks great Glenn!
You have brought another old warhorse back to life! Those old 1075 steel blades oughta sharpen up nice, and the owner will have a wonderful old knife and a fantastic new story to go with it.

You start by taking it apart, that's the easy stuff. Seriously, it's something you learn, and with a lot of trial and error and practice.
Thanks. I had a lot of help from some great mechanics on this site, who provided inspiration and tips along the way. I'm still learning every day, and this type of work definitely keeps you humble.

Glenn, other then maybe the occasional "trick of the trade", I can't imagine what you could possibly have left to learn. The pride you take in doing it and the enjoyment you get from working on knives shows from start to finish. Very impressive work, indeed!

Thanks! I guess the next migration would be to start doing my own customs. That's a little ways off though...
