Tried to fix up a blackhorn
I found this old Case blackhorn in the bottom of a bucket of tools. Looks like it was sitting in oil because the rubber grips were gummy and soft. So I peeled the old scales off and made some from Spalted Pecan. Tried my hand at some file work while I was at it.
Better than it was by a long shot.Re: Tied to fix up a blackhorn
Looks good.

Great job! That will be a nice EDC and conversation piece.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

I'll finish it up with some superglue. That CA finish is tuff as nails and will polish out nicely. I've used this Spalted pecan on a few other knives and they've really turned out nice.

That has some outstanding color and grain. The thing about spalted woods, no one is ever going to duplicate the outcome you have obtained, because each piece is unique.
