Excessive spring tension on small blade

Occasionally when I complete a knife it seems like the spring tension on the small blade is much stronger than it should be. Is there anything I might be doing on re-assembly that could cause this?

As long as were talking about spring tension and not friction, I think that is usually explained by the fact that you have just tightened up everything in the knife. The pins are new, they are not worn down and the reassembled knife is probably tighter through the bolsters than the old worn knife was. Also, you probably just lubricated the knife after you’ve completed the reassembly. All these factors can result a blade that is a little tighter than it was.

If both blades seem to be much tighter, it may be that you used a pivot pin was a larger than the original one. If that is the case, change to a slightly smaller pin.
