Buck 110 scales

Post by Jhew »

Hoping all y’all smart folks can help me. Several years ago, I started a small restoration project on a Buck 110. I’m replacing the scales with zebra wood. I have somehow lost the hinge spring. I have some stock I can cut to the right length, but do I have to disassemble the entire knife to install it? I'd rather not, but I will if need be. Thanks in advance.

if you are missing the spring that keeps tension on the locking bar, no. All you have to remove is the center pin to remove the lockbar and you can insert a new spring of spring steel rod through the spine.

Kaleb is right, they are built like the early Schrade LB7s before they went to the two-part springs.
It's a pretty easy and straightforward repair. It may be some trial and error fitting envolved, you may have to cut down the spring length slowly to get the correct length on it, but it shouldn't be too hard. ::tu::
