New scales......stag not burnt!
Well here I am again. I had this small M Klein & Sons and it had some ugly brown plastic handles with a bail. I love the knife, the size, the sheepfoot blade, the walk & talk, everything but the handles. I am still relatively young in the knife mechanic field but I am trying. I respect all your opinions so let’s hear some comments. Mr. Bill DeShivs I did not burn this one please let me know if you like it. Thanks.

I love the contrast between the color of the hafted stag and the bark. Also the contrast between the smoothness of the hafted stag and the bark is also very appealing!
Very nicely done!

You did a good job on that. Just a personal preference but I like mine lightly 'toasted'. It's all a matter of personal taste.

Re: New scales......stag not burnt!
I LOVE it!
You did a great job of balancing the handles side to side, and they appear to have just the right amount of "meat" on them to make a substantial hand feel.
Your artistic abilities are right up there with your mechanical abilities.
You have a skill set to be proud of sir!
Ps... this one looks very nice "raw". I think you picked some great material for the purpose.
Edit: If you would ever consider selling that one... I might know a guy, that knows a guy...

Re: New scales......stag not burnt!
If I can ask... How did you polish in the EZ open area?
Whatever you did worked because your edges still look nice, and crisp.

Re: New scales......stag not burnt!
Thank you guys for the comments. All these comments make me anxious and excited to start on my next project. I have a Case 6254 trapper that I bought that’s missing the mark side bone and shield. I am going to put buffalo horn on it. I don’t know if I have a shield in my parts but I will look. Ken if I ever decide to sale the above knife I will let you know. I appreciate you showing that kind of interest in it. It will go in a knife roll where I am putting all the knives I work on but like I said I will keep you in mind if I ever decide to sell it. Buffing/polishing the EZ open area I used a dremel with a polishing pad. I use it for any spots that my large wheel can’t get to. Mr. Bill sir your comment made me smile. I am glad you like it. Jerry I am with you also I like the looks of a little toasted stag but the all natural look is beautiful also. Maybe I am just in love with stag . Eric thank you sir for the encouragement. Dale, Glennbad you two gentlemen I hold in the highest regard. When I read your comment Dale....not going to lie, it made me smile as did yours Glenn. Thank you to you all.

Re: New scales......stag not burnt!
Thanks for pointing me back here from the Queen thread Ed.
As soon as I asked how you polished the EZ pull I saw a rotary tool in my mind. It is the only tool that makes sense for keeping those clean edges.
I'll tell you what sir, You do have skills, and I'd be proud to own a knife that you have worked on!!! That to me is the entire reason I love vintage knives well above new knives. History sir, and you have put your mark on history!
All the fellas here that rebuild these great old knives have left e VERY respectable mark on history.
