Source for THICK horn?
I've been looking for some buffalo horn slabs, the catch being I need them 5/8" - 3/4" thick. Most places I have looked don't stock slabs this thick, and when they do they are black. I'd like a mixed color or honey horn. I am restoring a WWI Collins Bolo and the original handles are deteriorated to the point they need replacing. They are a greenish yellow/honey colored horn (almost like interior rams horn) approx. 5/8" thick. They need to be around 5" L x 2 1/8" W also, if anyone knows of a supplier who stocks this stuff give me a holler please.

If you can prevent damage to the old horn when removing I would be willing to pay the shipping plus a stipend for the old ones. I also just read an article where you can get honey horn a few days ago. I will attempt to trace back my browsing history and let you know.

sure moss, but I don't think they will be of much use for anything, one is half gone and bug eaten the other is completely delaminated and has layers flaking off.

Thanks, I have an old blade for a CaseXX V44. I was hoping they were at least usable. They probably wouldn't work anyway. I missed your saying it was a bolo. I could not find the article. I don't know if the bolo used the same type but the v44 used a product referred to as green horn(I think) for some of their handles. You have a great day.
