One of my Ulster, fairly new to me! Mint
Older knives are like women, they are beautiful, pricey, and rarely do you find the good ones!

Re: Ulster Collecting
How does this one qualify, it's not all that old. Shrade may have made it, not sure. I don't see many with the script.

Re: Ulster Collecting
Added this 3 3/8" cigar jack this week, pretty much unused condition all steel construction with original blade finishes and really nice bone, little bit of age corrosion. I'm thinking 1940's or 50's.

Nice old Ulster!
It appears the tang stamp has serif letters. I believe those were discontinued when Albert Baer purchased Ulster Knife Co In 1940.

Re: Ulster Collecting
Thank you KJ and dale. Dale, thanks for an idea on dating, it does have the serif's.
Re: Ulster Collecting
Beautiful knife John, what fantastic condition! I think that knife dates a bit later, you've got Schrade bone on there, which would date it from 1947 at the earliest.

Re: Ulster Collecting
Has anyone ever seen an old Ulster Knife Co marked with "Ellenville" ? This is an ebay knife that i believe is all original.

Re: Ulster Collecting
KJ, I've got a pruner marked with Ellenville. My understanding is that is a very early tang stamp, maybe pre 1900.

Re: Ulster Collecting
JohnR, Thank you for posting this info and the picture of your knife with "Ellenville" marking. I thought that it likely is a very early marking but with many years of collecting Ulster knives i had not seen it before.
