I also have this Torrey Physicians knife. The pearl is cracked on both sides. Not many of these around, from the days when doctors made house calls. Likely by horse and buggy. I wonder how much of the visit was covered by insurance, and how much was the copay for a house call?

Wow some great knives posted guys. Here is my Torrey. I have a little brochure that shows razors and some knives I'll have to dig it out and take some pictures. The handles on this one are pressed horn. It's 4 1/2" closed. Sorry for the crappy pictures!

Nice one Mike. I have one last Torrey. It's a pearl whittler. It came with a paper sticker on the back handle. Maybe it was a display case knife, or a sales mans sticker? The pearl is cracked in the back side. The stamp is different, TORREY is not inside a box. I would like to think it was made by Burkinshaw.

Nice Barry ::tu:: ::tu:: .... no doubt that was a Burkinshaw style with the the swell-center with that blade style - many were such in that $90K last sold display at auction....

Great knife Barry, yes I read somewhere that Burkinshaw made the Torrey knives. Here is the little brochure price guide I spoke about.

There is a thread here where fellas are trying very hard to get great, fiery pearl handle photographs.
I don't know if you worked at those photos or not but that Pearl is magnificent!

You have quite the little gem there 1.

Time to wake up this thread :D ...

Here’s a gem of a small Torrey Congress at 2 7/16” - Ivory handle and a Sheep Foot master blade - Check out the Torrey tang stamp which unlike others is not surrounded by a rectangular box - perhaps a different stamp for the much smaller blades or as Barry speculated above maybe Burkinshaw made... not my best photos as still need to use my iPhone camera but hopefully soon back to my old setup.... This was a nice surprise from my buddy KJ when I picked up a few knives from him - Thanks KJ ::tu::

Thanks Bill ::tu:: ... definitely ivory - photos probably don’t do the handles justice - these were easy to identify as there is some grain and definitely no Haversian Canal spots as in bone... (As an aside - With my camera on a tripod and light box setup I routinely shoot on the macro setting with a large F-stop and slow shuttter speed which gives a better depth of field - accordingly compared to an iPhone camera details in the knives are much easier to see with my camera  )....

Great knife, love Torrey's all of them I have ever seen have been well made. There was a cattle knife on ebay that just sold for a best offer but don't know who bought it or for how much. It was a buy it now for 495 and I offered 250 for it but the seller said he had a better offer and it sold right before or after the auction ended.

Nice knife! Love that old wooden handles jack. The handles on the ebay jack were some of the best I’ve ever seen!
