Two nice old knives. Joe is your rope knife the large one? I have just a few Miller Bros knives they are hard to find in
my area and expensive.
Harold

Re: Miller Bros. 1863-1926
Thanks Joe and Harold. That is a great looking rope knife Joe, the blade is quite full and in good shape. So many were used hard. Hamming into ropes and wood takes its toll.
Here is a lovely hunter with big ivory slab handles that I have posted elsewhere.

My only Miller Bros. It's worn, loose, and the other side is heart breaking just to look at (I'll spare you all that pain), but She's all mine.

Nice Joe - the big brother to mine above
Beauty of a 2 blade pen senator CheckSix - especially love the bone on that one... I have a few MBs that seem to have that reddish brown tint (at least to my eyes they seem to have that coloration) to the bone which I find really quite appealing

Good looking knife, Lloyd.
The celluloid looks in great shape.
Here's a little pearl. 2 1/2".
Back spring comes up in the blade well. I guess it could be called a quill knife. A very solid little knife.

Bruce, that is a wonderful old knife. It looks to be a WWI issue navy rope knife. That is an especially good score, no matter what condition the other side of the handle is. The blade looks good and at least it has one intact handle.
Joe, that wharncliffe is Fantastic!
Here is an old whittler with good blade etch

Mike, that Miller Bro is stunning! The etch is fantastic and as per your knives as usual, it is a lovely example of fine cutlery. Whenever you want to part with it, you let me know

Re: Miller Bros. 1863-1926
Great cutlery being shown in here and I try to contribute where I can (if anyone's interested take a look) ...When did they start & stop using screws on the covers ?
Re: Miller Bros. 1863-1926
That is one beauty of a knife ... I believe the MB gravity knife is a fairly rare commodity and not an easy one to find... that one is very cool!! Thanks for sharing and posting it!!!
Good question on the screws being used by Miller Bros - as we know they didn't used screws on all knives and seems to me they used both pins and screws in the same time period - why screws on some and not others is not clear to me at all... certainly they were used on their rope knives in the WWI time period but not sure when they first started to use them... I never checked to see if they even put a patent in on screws as a way to attach scales but maybe that is a clue as to when at least they started to use them... even the patent you showed for the gravity knife doesn't clearly show screws at least when I look at the photo and that was 1885... ... great question and one that has me curious as well!!
