Wharncliffe Knives
Re: Wharncliffe Knives
Happy Jack, For those who don't know the brand, Happy Jack was made by knife maker Chuck Garlits. He made the Happy Jack Brand in 1987-1989. Everything is handmade and the fit and finish is wonderful. This was a limited run of 39 for the American Edge Collectors Association Club in 1988. This is his Large Swayback Wharncliffe Model that about 4" when closed. Arizona Custom Knives has a number of his knives right now if anyone want to see a nice mix of his work. Chuck is also the cousin of NHRA Race Car Driver Don Garlits.

That is quite a unique knife, and Very beautiful.

The MOP is imitation pearl. I wish is was real. But I don't mind. Just being able to own one of his knives makes my day. The man was a very good knife maker.americanedgetech wrote:That is quite a unique knife, and Very beautiful.

This ones got my son in laws name on it, I'm so proud of him. A few months back he got promoted to Master Sargent E8 in the Marines. I think I'll give him this for Christmas.

Here are a couple of recent pickups. The top one I was able to wrestle away from Q at a weak moment he was having.

Re: Wharncliffe Knives
Greg, I seem to have a lot of those (weak moments), although usually they end up with me getting a new knife, not letting one go! Once I get a knife it essentially becomes a part of my family and very difficult to part with. I'm glad it went to a good home, though.gsmith7158 wrote:Here are a couple of recent pickups. Here's the newest addition to my wharncliffe family.

I can't let that one pass without comment. A big ole Ooh Rah and Semper Fi to your S-I-L and congratulations on his promotion. You have every right to be super proud of him. I thought I was going to bust my buttons when my Niece made Tech Sgt (E-6) in the Air Force a few months ago at only 8 years TIS.PCwizard wrote:americanedgetech wrote: This ones got my son in laws name on it, I'm so proud of him. Hawbaker Muskrat -- Sheepcliffe blade on one end, Muskrat clip blade on the other.
Moose -- Large knife with a big clip blade at one end and either a long spear or a long spey blade at the other end.
Maybe they should have called it a Hawbaker Moose.

Re: Wharncliffe Knives
Check out this S&M Acorn Series...if two can be considered a "series". This interior mammoth ivory wharncliffe trapper is from the Schatt & Morgan Custom Shop and is 1 of only 2 ever made. Supposedly, the acorn shield is quite rare on an S&M knife.gsmith7158 wrote:I gotta say that keystone series is putting out some sweet knives.
