This is a 53 Cuban Castro. I like it but I like the slanted bolsters on your 54 better.RalphAlsip wrote:Here is a picture of a GEC Cuban 54 with 2 wharncliff blades and 2 sheepsfoot blades.
I did a little trade with Paul down in Tulsa OK (KnifeSlinger#81) and he generously sent along this CRKT 2385 Folts Mimimalist as a cherry on the top. Ain't it just the cutest little thing. It not only grabbed me, it grabbed my buddies too.

Re: Wharncliffe Knives
Those four-bladers remind me one sold years ago by (WESTERN?) called a dynamite knife, and was used by blasters, apparently. Anyhow, I see these wharncliffe blades as meretricious sheep hooves. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet? They are nice. Here is another one.

Hi Dale,
That is a very nice Wharnie you have there. It looks very similar to the one you sold me some time back. I love mine.

Re: Wharncliffe Knives
Of all the knives I wish I had more of, a wharncliffe blade is the one. I only have one Remington, it's the worst condition knife I own with a replacement pen blade but one of my favorites.

I love SINGLE blade wharcliffe's ... the slim-ness of them really works nice for dress pants. They are hard to find especially in the Case versions ... anyways, here's my latest ...

Re: Wharncliffe Knives
John---just curious, is your 3107W SS or CV? I noticed that both steel options were available for this pattern with the yellow Delrin handle scales, which I thought was very cool of Case to do. Mine is CV, but it started spotting within a week (in storage) which is a big problem for me with the carbon steels where I live (I bought it before I realized there was a SS version available). I wish GEC would make more patterns with SS, or do runs of half SS and half 1095 just to give more options for people who mainly buy to collect (like me) and those who buy intending to use. Either way, the Wharncliffe Mini Trapper is a great little knife; my personal favorite Case pattern. Good score.

John, every one of my single blade wharncliffe mini trappers except for two: the Orvis & the EZ open antique bone with bomb shield and scrolled bolsters, was purchased on eBay. The reason you don't see them too often is because they tend to get snapped up pretty fast. You would think Case might take a hint and release more 107W models since it does seem to be a popular pattern.

Re: Wharncliffe Knives
If you're not talking about the EZ-Open Mini-Trapper single blade models, there are a bunch of the Carhartt version on eBay.

Re: Wharncliffe Knives
The 107W with Delrin handles doesn't seem to sell out as fast as those with bone & stag handles, although they tend to be quite a bit less expensive.
Here's my latest Wharncliffe acquisition: S&M White Bone Executive Jack #99 with no shield or blade etch.

Re: Wharncliffe Knives
These two have similar blades, not identical, but both are called "Wharncliffe" by their respective manufacturers.

Here is the old BB Knife Co / Beaver Brook / Mass MOP Wharncliffe (2 & 3/4") with only a pivot bolster I posted under General Discussion a few weeks ago but wanted to archive this Wharncliffe in this particular thread as another example -

Re: Wharncliffe Knives
GEC's newest run is technically a Wharncliffe frame.
Everything's better with a Barlow
Re: Wharncliffe Knives
CASE called that frame a "Seahorse". Does GEC call it a Wharncliffe? Great looking knives though
