Re: Traditonal Hunters - Fifty years old (1965) and older…...
I finally mixed the stain, broke the glaze on the new sheath, stained it, and in general, made it look, old and well used, like I vaguely remember the old original sheath that came with my first hunting knife. I don't remember it having logos, on it, but I couldn't think of anything to do about that, as the new one has logos, and I let that part go as it is. Well it's as close to being complete, as i'm ever going to make it. Here are pictures. Thanks for sharing my mess with me.

Sut you did a great job on the sheath. I have sure enjoyed your memories and your joy. Great looking knife and sheath. Thanks for sharing.Sut Tatersaul wrote:I finally mixed the stain, broke the glaze on the new sheath, stained it, and in general, made it look, old and well used, like I vaguely remember the old original sheath that came with my first hunting knife. Lovely Case Hunters Bill ... Case sure had a unique jigged bone to me and quite nice - I have trouble recognizing jigged bone to identify makers in a lineup of knives but can no doubt pick out a Case from the others ...

Hear's a beauty of an old fixed blade. 10 1/8" over all. 5 3/4" blade.
There is a similar knife on page one. Two different knives. Thanks Lee!
Landers Frary & Clark. And to think they made coffee pots too.
I am pretty happy to have this piece of cutlery history.

Thats a beauty Joe ... Its the twin to mine and glad you scored that one ... Nice to have the tube sheath too!!!
Funny in another thread we spoke about handles used on LF&C knives and in particular pocket knives where the majority were black composition... but they didn't hold back on their fixed blades as the stag is as sweet as it gets... and their kitchen knives also had nice handles but I think as you alluded to with the coffee pot LF&C certainly went all out for the kitchen

Here is a large coke bottle (5.25”) by Camillus handled in Ebony. Hardly any blade loss. Goins shows the tang stamp (Serif Letter Font) as 1915-1918. Blade etch still visible “Old Hickory”. If these old hunters could only talk!

Thanks,I thought it was somewhat unique. I'm going to take it to the Bladeshow and see what kind of interest it generates.doglegg wrote:Roger, sorry to be late to post but that is the first 16 and 28 gauge shell puller I have ever seen.
