Traditonal Hunters - Fifty years old (1965) and older…...
Re: Traditonal Hunters - Fifty years old (1965) and older…..
Here are some I've posted elsewhere on the forum. I think they belong here as well.
The first pics of the Case Knife/Ax in the Shipley sheath are a first time post.

Wayne them thar knives have somemore character, I love'em.
Re: Traditonal Hunters - Fifty years old (1965) and older…..
I need to dig all mine out and take pics, but I've been a might lazy. But I did pick these two up yesterday at the Cave City Gun and Knife Show.
First is a pre 1930 Aerial Cutlery Company large Coke Bottle Hunter. Whatever the original handle material was it's been replaced by this ugly but functional wood. This one will probably get rehandled.
Second is a Schmidt and Ziegler single blade hunter with the running bull tang stamp. It too is saber ground with worm groove bone scales.

I have to say in the last 24 hours there has been quite an awesome collection of Hunters shown on the last 2 pages .... Looking back from the beginning - if all the Hunters in this whole thread were on display at one time I would no doubt pay admission to see them !! Thanks for sharing them!!

This has been a good topic. I have not posted on it because I do not have any relevant knives. But it is great reading!

I wish these last few weeks I had not been so preoccupied.(family, remember my son in prayer)
Lee ,thank you and all for showing these pieces of cutlery history, this is quite a thread. Lots of AAPK info in here.
Here's a Remington 1128, I didn't know about the pin on the pile side.I had Sargent and another look at it,said it was ok.

Jdub - what a wonderful set of Case Hunters in fact awesome looking laying side by side...
Lyle - That is one great looking Remington Bullet Hunter and with wood too... SWEET!! I have never seen a bullet knife with cocobola (?) wood and I for one admire wood handle knives among the many handle scales that interest me ... That one certainly looks to be in fantastic shape as well.... wonder if it was from the earlier years of Remington...
Thanks again!!!

Lyle, very nice R1128! I compared the pin placement of your R1128 to my R1123 and the placement is identical. The shape of the pin head on the pile side is unusual (rectangular), but the knife looks very legit to me. I have been watching for a R1128 and yours is the best example I have seen. The blades have been pretty worn on most of the examples I have seen. The one I did see with good blades had a name engraved on the bullet shield.

What a wonderful thread. Looks to have settled in to folding hunters, but just for fun I thought I would throw in a group of late 1920s and early 1930s Remington fixed blades.

Here is one I picked up today. Keenwell Mfg. Co, Olean NY circa 1912. Sheath is currently undergoing re-furbishing. Point of knife has been re-profiled slightly.

No doubt that old beauty of a Hunter deserves some show time here too Joe ... that is one nice looking blade, wood and shield as alluded to in the other threads as well...

I agree with peanut740... they fit here just fine and nice additions for sure ... that is one cool axe with that pommel but with a fold down blade cover too unique to my eyes... and nice MSA blade as well below it ....

Thread bump day for me...
If you haven't browsed this thread or if it has been a while, it might be worth a look. There are some really exceptional knives posted in this thread.
Here is a Case Tested XX 6165 SAB with green winterbottom handles.
Thanks for looking.
