Re: Old Knives with Rare Tang Stamps
Here is an old case knife with a tang stamp I have never seen. I believe it dates somewhere between 1915 and 1925. A Case 6470F with a left handed rear pull on the main blade, blades recessed in the handles.
Thanks for looking.

Re: Old Knives with Rare Tang Stamps
Quick Point was was a firm in St. Louis that specialized in novelty advertising items. They had knives made for them by both Winchester and Remington.
That's according to Goins and as of the publication of his last book, they were still in business, but in Fenton, Missouri.

Here is a very nice swell center, pearl whittler. 3 1/16".
Thos. J. Bowler, Chicago ......... hardware firm.
Goins gives this a one year date: 1922.
I'm guessing/hoping NYK made.

Joe, beautiful old MOP Whittler I am very attracted and intrigued by the Whittler pattern and the intricacy and challenge of the build for the cutler! This one being almost a centenarian adds to the mystique of this example. Wonderfully staged and photographed by the way Lloyd

Great old knife Joe! Probably my favorite pattern - swell center balloon end whittler. Something about them just appeals to me.

Thanks Ken.
It is a elegant pattern to be sure. And though it is small, it is a very strong knife. Quite solid and quite snappy.

Re: Old Knives with Rare Tang Stamps
I seem to recall a discussion re' Schatt and Morgan from a while back that included the information that S&M issued their first catalog with the illustrated knives having a Gowanda, N.Y. stamp, but that they actually relocated before such knives were ever produced.
That premise would make the Schatt above quite rare, because it certainly does looks genuine.
We need David Clark to opine here.

Here is another Gowanda Schatt & Morgan. It is just 2 1/2 " closed. I believe David has a number of these Gowanda S & M's as well. He has a great article in Knife magazine this month. He is quite the Historian!!RobesonsRme.com wrote:I seem to recall a discussion re' Schatt and Morgan from a while back that included the information that S&M issued their first catalog with the illustrated knives having a Gowanda, N.Y. stamp, but that they actually relocated before such knives were ever produced.

From what I gather Charlie they are really rare. Of course if anyone would have the the rare S&M's, it would be David. I doubt anyone has the knowledge on this brand that he does

Posting an old original Honk Falls bone made in Napanoch NY. It seems you see 10 fakes for every real one. This one is authentic.
