Thanks guys!! The Master blade indeed is very nicely done. The swedge on both sides are even, and where they place the nail Nick is in the perfect location. Great old knife for sure.

Here is a very well made vintage equal end whittler. 3 3/8", secondary blades marked: "IXL/George/Wostenholm/Celebrated/Cutlery" The master blade has the same marking except the top line "IXL" is absent. This marking dates 1850-1890. Secondaries have half stops and all snaps are crisp and there is zero play anywhere. In the picture of knife spine note how slender and tightly fit the tapered center divider is. Very skilled workmanship and all done with hand tools.
About 150 years old, used and still works as well as one day one. I think it's remarkable.

I was very happy to find this one, it has a few issue's but overall pretty nice. Blades are snappy and tight, stag is nice, at 4 1/2" it's a handfull.

Haven't found a pic of this blade configuration on a Remington 7756 though. Anyway I'm... :D

I had to go back a little ways to find a spot to post this one...
Humason & Beckley Mfg., New Britain, Conn. whittler.
Blades are a bit worn, but I couldn't resist the stamped H&B on the main blade...

I'm adding this CAMILLUS "split spring", whittler pocket knife to this topic.
All blades have the 4 line tang stamp (early 1930's to the mid 1940's).
It measures 3 5/16 inches closed.

Very recently I added this pocket knife to my general pocket knife collection. It's a Cattaraugus 32409, 3 blade, 3 3/8" closed, whittler pocket knife. I gave it a very light cleaning, took some pictures and here it is.
