Here is the seller's description:
"Offering in good used working condition, antique Geo Schrade Bridgeport CT USA folding pocket knife with an open frame handle. Web searches indicate that this knife is one of a series of Boy Scouts Camping Mess Kit items that date to pre-WW2."

Skip, just messing with you. I overpaid for two very specific reasons. I love the pattern but was always afraid to carry and lose my good one. And two I want one to use when and if I need it to reverse engineer the pattern when I make one myself. And three I plan on buffing and polishing it so it looks shiny. I was crazy but probably my last purchase for a while.

YOU BOUGHT IT?!?!
I thought you were going after those two CASE wire frames?
You've GOT to post pictures of this latest one after you buff and polish it.
It should turn out to be a helluva good looking pocket knife. ::tu::
Don't take anything I said as an insult, but that's just insane!

I know I overpaid but I wanted it for the reasons I said. I figure I paid about $50 too much. The 2 with the Case tang stamps are NFS. No apology necessary because you didn't say anything wrong. We're all dedicated to a knife that cost a few dollars when new.

Yesterday, these two pocket knives arrived and joined my wire handle/frame collection. The first one, the first 4 pictures, is a GEO SCHRADE, single blade, hawkbill pocket knife. It still has, although VERY faint, the remains of an ATLAS BISON blade etch. The second one, the next 5 pictures, is one of my "GRAIL" pocket knives. It is a CASE, single blade pocket knife with a cap lifter/bottle opener. This particular CASE pocket knife pattern was manufactured by Schrade in the Bridgeport plant. I haven't decided if I'm going to replace the missing blade guard/spacer in the handle. Both pocket knives needed a little cleaning. I cleaned them, took some pictures and here they are. The last picture is from a 1934 catalog and explains the three CASE wire handle/frame patterns. Now to find the other 2 CASE wire handle/frame patterns (the 2nd post from the top of this page).

Finally arrived after taking a detour to Florida. Much better shape than the seller's photos. All I did was wash it with dish soap and a soft tooth brush and then some flitz. Put a nice edge on it and in the pocket. Still contemplating removing the remaining red paint. Here it is with its twin.

Cool finds joe & Skip! ::tu::

I enjoy seeing these types of knives. ::nod:: My dad had one of these in his garage when I was a kid. I always thought the handles were either missing or that my dad just took a knife blade and welded some wire to it to give it some purpose in life. ::dang::  What do kids know?

This is the most recent addition to my wire-jack pocket knife collection. It's a GEO. SCHRADE, single blade, double tang stamp, wire handle/frame pocket knife. It needed cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.
