Re: Old Wrench Knives
Thanks fellers,It's the 1st one I ever bought. The majority of the ones you see are well worn,or cobbled. It is a surprisingly robust tool.

That is a really nice one Roger. Harold
Re: Old Wrench Knives
Nice ones shown. I only have a few modern cheapos made in the Orient, around here somewhere.
I'd love to have an intact CP Wrench Knife. These were made about a century ago in Bristol, TN; less than two hours away from me. I've only seen one offered for sale, and it had been modified heavily, by removing the sliding jaw, and making the bottom jaw into a smooth, rounded butt of the handle.

Re: Old Wrench Knives
I've seen modern versions of that, and wondered--is that even usable as a wrench?!!Miller Bro's wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 12:35 am Here is an old letterpress printing machine wrench knife
But we see here one that is designed for a specific purpose, and thus designed to actually work.
Re: Old Wrench Knives
Very cool, and great example. Do you have a rough time frame on that model?Miller Bro's wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 12:35 am Here is an old letterpress printing machine wrench knife

Re: Old Wrench Knives
Picked this one up recently, it must have been stored in a barn toolbox for years.
Lots of surface rust and pitting, but I'm removing as much rust as possible. Not the best blade but not the worst I've seen either. Trying to decide how or if to re-profile the blade. Decent O. Barnett Tool Co tang stamp. Pliers work perfectly and it's interesting how the wire cutter is designed. The punch may be slightly tipped but I don't think the hoof pick was ever used, perfect jigged old bone scales. Excellent snap on the punch and blade.
Not bad for at least 105 years old.
