Another Barlow I picked up over the weekend. This is a Kutmaster that unlike most advertisers does not have the blade etch or handle printed ad, but has NEW HOLLAND stamped directly into the steel bolster. This would be the New Holland that makes farm machinery I presume. Kind of different.

Very colorful bunch-o-Barlows you have there, Quick Steel. I just have to ask...is there a reason why you have some with mark side facing up and some with the pile side up? As I looked at your photo, my OCD kicked into O-ver-Drive and I 'bout drove myself crazy wanting to rearrange them all facing the same direction. Unless I had a specific reason, such as preference for certain sides of certain knives, I would never be able to store my knives like that. And, then I would have all the mark-siders in one group and all the pile-siders in another group, but not randomly mixed together. My palms itch just thinking about that!

Q: I certainly do not wish to provoke itchy palms. When I display my knives they are in fact set out in a uniform manner. When within the storage folders, as are these, I have not payed any particular attention to the issue you raise. But I now suspect you have created a mental bug in my cranium which will only be stilled by reorganizing them for uniformity even in storage.

I understand there are medications available for the treatment of OCD but I doubt you will need these. However, if one day you find yourself with a tape measure insuring that your plates and cutlery are set out on the table at equidistant points you may wish to consider consultation. For example, I prefer that every place setting has the water glass set 1 1/2 inches forward of the knife. Similarly, every place setting must be identical. I think that is a reasonable and attainable goal.
