Roger: That is a real good question. I don't own or ever recall seeing a H. Boker knife made in that lockback, banana pattern. I dug around tonight in some of my old catalogs & hardware advertisments and couldn't find an example of one either. So, I guess the short answer is I don't know. ::shrug::
A pocket knife is still an intimate personal possession of the individual who carries it and consequently deserves the best of materials, finish and workmanship in its production. (Quoted from Boker's 1928 cutlery catalog).

That's a real beauty! ::nod:: What's the closed length?

I had to look up "Staunch" in the dictionary to make sure I knew what it meant, and it means strong, loyal friend. I guess that about sums up your knife. Interesting. ___Dave

I posted this knife under the "Got Shields" thread but figured it belonged here as well. The master blade has a double etch - both the mark and pile sides :)

This is Simonds Saw & Steel Co (circa - 1922-1940) though the company still makes saws today and are located in Fitchburg MA. This Pen knife at 3 1/2" has a double etch on master blade - both mark and pile sides - but no tang stamps which I assume was in lieu of the mark side etch with company name which changed from Simonds Mfg Co around 1922. The mark side etch is quite clear but the "Saws" part of the pile side etch reading "Saws - Files - Hack Saws" has some tarnish in that area. Handle covers are faux stag or jigged bone of black composition - not one of my favorites handles but this one shows no sign of shrinkage to date. I understand some of their knives were made by Camillus. Thanks for looking!!

Longblade - that Simonds Saw & Steel is very interesting. I do not recall seeing that cross cut saw shield before. Nice piece of history there!

Thanks Mel ::tu:: ... No doubt they are not all that common as I have not seen in my experience many of these Simonds knives for sale but the shield I do believe was their trademark as they were and still are known for their saw blades though they started in 1832 as scythe makers... Beechtree had another earlier knife of Simonds posted (same shield) with some history at this link under "Got Shields": http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kni ... &start=450 ... I'll be keeping my eye out for others as this knife is solid in all ways!! Be nice to find one in jigged bone ::nod:: ...
