Very nice knife John, I read recently that in 1914 Jean and John Case contracted with Challenge to supply knives to Case Brothers. By 1915 as part of the bankruptcy they both were personally liable to challenge for $2,903.03. I don’t know much about Clauss but from the responses here it sounds like Case had jobbed for them. Your knife is in great shape for its age.

Great knife John, you know I like the big single spring double enders.

A Challenge for comparison.

That is a beauty of a knife there, "Sheepsfoot John". I admired it several times after Roger posted it, a very fine knife. Your photos are high quality, as usual!

Looking to find out age of this Clauss knife or any other info on it. Rescued from the bottom of a cheap rusty toolbox with Clauss shears headed to the dump. It was a mess and filthy after sitting for over 20 years plus in its rusty tomb marked for death.

I am a huge Challenge Cutlery Co collector. I however have just purchased my first Clauss. It won't be in until next week, but if anyone is interested in trading away any I own a knife shop and would trade about anything to Clauss and Challenge.
