If you look closely there's no discernible pattern, the divots are so random that it makes sense they were done by hand. I don't know how many they made as I've only ever seen the exact pic you posted which I have in my Imgur account and then mine which is generic and ready to be engraved. Look closely at the scales and you'll see what I mean. I'm a fabricator machinist by trade and to do a few hundred like this by hand wouldn't take very long for an SFO.

Usually when things are stamped they're duplicated on the next piece, I'll have to compare the ARPEAKO and my First Prize to see if there's a common patern, it should be visible if that's the case.

Here's a trivia question for ya Charlie. There was an episode in M.A.S.H. when Father Mulcahy had to perform a trach on an injured mate and did so,(under the guidance of Hawkeye via walkie talkie) with a pocket knife and by inserting the end of a pen thus acting as the cannula. What was the pocket knife he more than likely used? Any takers? Rocky

It was a Tom Mix Pocket knife, could have been this Camillus I'm not certain. I'm still lookin'.

Season 5 Episode 8 (“Mulcahy’s War”) where a soldier with “shell shock” refuses to talk to Father Mulcahy because he doesn’t understand what it’s like to be in combat. The Padre hijacks Radar to go up to a forward aide station to transport a wounded soldier, and on the way back, has to perform an emergency tracheotomy with his Tom Mix pocket knife while being shelled by the enemy.

Sometimes all you have to date a knife is by the advertising on it. The link and info below dated this knife somewhere between 1896-1907 at the very least it's 110 years old at the most 121 years old. Looks pretty good for 120 year old knife. I'll have to take a picture of the blades, they're both full blades

This is an example of what's still out there in boxes at yard sales and flea markets for a couple of $ Also it shows how powerful of a tool the internet is in identifying and important any information can be in putting a date to a knife.

I posted this unique and rare to find Billings & Spencer all metal knife yesterday along with background in the General Discussion but no doubt belongs here as well. Knurled metal handle and sliding pin mechanism for this combination knife screw driver. B&S only made knives from 1890-1914 and this knife has both the 1892 and 1896 patent dates. It was marketed towards sportsman as noted in this Forest and Stream ad from 1903 -

Nice knives Joe ... That melon tester with metal handles must have been a top of the line pattern is my guess - I haven't seen many of that pattern with fancy nice handles like your Klaas (sweet ) though I would guess others may exist - just haven't seen any ...
