Thanks Roger. I think it's my best hunter. It's got quite the spring on it. Not a nail breaker but pretty strong.
I wouldn't let my sister open it. :D

Joe you don't see many NYK ebony hunters. The majority are bone lockback ones.I have never seen an ebony lockback or a bone non-lockback. Did they make one? ::shrug::

Thanks so much, guys.

Roger, I think these covers are Rosewood. They aren't black like Ebony. If you click on them to magnify you can see the reddish color.
I wish I knew enough about these knives to know if they made a non locking bone handled knife.
I would love to have their bone lock back. Or anything else they made, really.
Thanks again.

Great knives everyone—I love this thread!!

Joe that is one great lookig folding hunter! That blade looks massive with such an impressive width profile::tu::

Here are three more NYKC folders from my collection. The top one is marked HSB & Co. OVB large lock back folding hunter. It is 5 & 3/8 inches closed. Clearly a NYKC produced knife. The next or middle one is a lock back sleeve board bare end English Jack. It is 4 & 5/8 inches closed. The bottom one is a 3 inch split back Whittler style NYKC folder.

knifegnome, thank you for posting more pictures of the NYK cigar knife. You're right the stamp is unusual with Northfield included. The bone definitely looks like classic NYK bone and the shield also looks to NYK. Did NYK make knives for Northfield?

It's a super nice knife. ::tu:: ::tu::

Knifegnome and Ralph, I think that Northfield blade was added to the knife some time later in its life. You can see that the bolsters were re-pinned and re-glazed and buffed. The center pin also looks like a replacement.

That's a fantastic collection knifegnome, some really rare ones in there!

ScoutKnives that's a fantastic example, first one I've seen other than in print!
