new york knife co
Re: new york knife co
What a beautiful old jack knife that is, Lloyd. Nice crisp stamps and a strong etch.
Hard to beat that Ebony and it's capped. Very nice all the way around.

Re: new york knife co
Picked up the NYK Co jack this week, been buffed but has pretty full blades and is a good tight knife. What I find unusual is it has synthetic jigged handles, maybe some type of hard rubber. I don't recall ever seeing another NYK with these handles.
Re: new york knife co
Somehow missed this thread back in late 2016 and early 2017. A very nice jack and a pearl posted by Joe, and a great jack posted by Lloyd! Really nice to see an intact Hammer Brand etched blade!
Beautiful jack, John, love that shield! A year or so ago someone posted a NYKC knife with bright blue celluloid handles and I have also seen one with bright red celluloid handles on ebay.

Thank you Dan, I have see a few NYK celluloid knives but this is the first I've seen with hard rubber.

Re: new york knife co
NYK made quality knives and the examples posted in the thread are very nice. Here is a NYK Hammer Brand jack on in 3 5/8 equal end frame. It has the arm and hammer mark and the distinctive NYK jigged bone.

Nice looking equal end and pictures Ralph
This is one of my favorite threads here. I posted a few a while back but I'm sure they are gone now. I'll see if I can re-post them. Here's one I haven't posted before. It's 4 inches closed. (Seller's pictures.)

That's a great one to keep! What size is it closed?
Thanks for all of the nice comments. I haven't posted here that much, but I do go through a lot of the threads to learn more about the patterns and companies.

Re: new york knife co
Hi Mike, it's 3 7/8" closed. I see the knives you post on BF they are great!! I used to post there from time to time but it's a pain the way you have to post pictures.
Re: new york knife co
Really nice knives, Ralph, Mike and Mike! Galvanic, BF has changed the picture posting method and it is now just as easy as posting on AAPK.

Re: new york knife co
Thanks Dan, not quite as easy need to get my files smaller but did get 3 on
Re: new york knife co
Yes, forgot about having to make the file smaller. I usually make a copy of the pic to my desktop and then edit the copy so that my original pic stays the same.

Just went back through this entire thread and realized that I had not posted the only NYKC that I have.

Thats a very nice one Dan, looks to have very little use.
Re: new york knife co
I thought I would wake this thread back up with these three NYKC folders. I think I posted a photo of the blade etched Jack back last year in this thread.
From the top is a Swell Center or Coke Bottle or Stabber Jack with saber ground primary blade with Ebony handles. Next (in the middle) is an early pick bone bare head jack with saber ground primary blade. No Hammer Brand logos on the pick bone folder blade tangs. Last is a regular jack with a pretty full looking Hammer Brand blade etch and Ebony handles.

3 great looking knives, but I really like the pick bone.
