Fantastic knife! Do you think that is an Ulster?
Yes, I think the moose is an Ulster made knife. Here is a scan of 2 knives together, the top one stamped Ulster alongside the HS&B. I believe with some pocket time the Hibbard handle will look similar to the Ulster. Of course the moose will never see pocket time as long as I own it. Barry

Love seeing your knives Barry. I should have bought that Wilbert farmers whittler. I always regret not getting any of that kind ( my kind ),even if I give myself good reasons not to at the time.
I buy roosters combs and farmers..........................................................jack knives [/b]

Here's another HSB. This one is a 4 blade Senator, 3-5/16" closed length... #2645. Nice bone.

Here is a lobster pattern HSB & Co folder. Tip bolsters are notorious for producing blades when fully extended that have lateral wobble. This one has blades when fully deployed that are absolutely solid with not a hint of lateral movement. The two blades are tang marked. The primary OVB and the small pen hibbard/spencer/bartlett/ & co. The primary mark side blade flat is etched OVB. The folder is 3 inches closed. The blades have been sharpened but are still full. They also have much of their original finish. The liners are coined both on top and bottom where the slim nail file/cuticle tip is enclosed. Lloyd

Lloyd,
The condition of that lobster is fantastic! Thanks for showing it! Bone on a lobster is not what I'm used to seeing. I usually see pearl but I really like how this one looks.

Thanks Dave for the nice comments! I also have a Schrade Cut Co. lobster with jigged bone handles less the shield that reminds me of this HSB & Co Lobster. I think that is what drew me to this one. The jigging pattern is I believe different (without getting it out) but has the same high quality of craftsmanship. This HSB may have been made by Schrade for that matter. Anyone else have any ideas who may have manufactured this lobster? Perhaps NYK? Thanks, Lloyd

HSB Barlow with jigged bone handles, bad crack on the front handle, but I still like it.

Very nice John! Thanks Roger for the input. I do believe you are right about it being made by NYK. Lloyd

Can't help with a catalog, however, in Jacob Jarrett's Price Guide to Pocket Knives p. 82, this knife is shown, pattern number 546 apparently from an old catalog reprint.

Marvelous HS&B OVB, Mark ::nod:: ! Love the end cap with OVB instead like on some with OVB on the bolster. That is an interesting looking shield but works on this folder. Overall I really like this folder as it is unique and I have never seen one like it!
Thanks for posting a photo of this prize ::tu:: Lloyd
