Old knives are the best knives, here's a few of mine. The keen kutter jack in the top photo is possibly my oldest knife 1905-20.

Some nice knives here but I really like that KeenKutter jack and the pearl smokers knife!
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Here's a small group of Camillus made knives that appeared in my knife room shortly after I began collecting the 72 pattern. All are pre !960 or earlier.

I just realized I never contributed to this thread in the past as I must have missed it when it came to the top ::dang:: - and yet all my knives except for a couple are pre-1960 - even my first knife as a kid missed the cutoff date by just a couple years  ... Here's a few oldies with a little variety from big to small knives -

American Knife Co - Thomaston
Blade Open DSCN8145.JPG
Unknown folding dirk with lock back (probably pre-1860 given integrated liners bolsters and probably Sheffield) -
Blade Open DSCN7502.JPG
Turn of the 19th century Sfilato stamped Frosolone (Italy) - Not what I usually collect in terms of a regional maker but found it in an old shop here for "peanuts" and couldn't resist - I sent a photo of this to a cutler in Frosolone who dated it for me and said probably even pre-1900 - he was shocked I had a knife like this ::nod::
Blade Open DSCN7606 - 2.JPG
A few old quills - all Sheffield and the middle quill knife is pre-1830 -

Lee those are some great old knives there! ::tu:: I'm kind of like you, don't know why I haven't noticed this tread before a couple of days ago because just about every thing I have was made before 1960 so here are my oldest knives. None quite as old as yours but here goes:
This first one is probably pre 1890 it's an Electric Whittler with tortoise shell handies. This is the brand that Friedman & Lauterjung used and later became Electric Cutlery Co. in 1890.
001.JPG
002.JPG
Next up are three Case Bros. Cutlery Co. knives.I think the oldest of these is the small tortoise shell Shad judging from the Arched Case Bros. Cut. stamp, perhaps 1896-99 .The 6293J and the 82030are probably 1900-14.

Might as well throw a few Empires in here. 1856-1930 Around the turn of the century they employed over 600 people and were one of the leading knife makers in the country. Pick one of these knives up and the quality is unbelievable.
