Knives Made Before The Year 1960
Re: Knives Made Before The Year 1960
Dimitri - very cool utility knives and now I recognize that very special Ulster after that cool story and background - and never seen one from Miller Bros ...
Hey Phil - I guess we are going to be brothers - Joe once said he would adopt me too .... One thing about Joe - be easy finding and picking a Father's Day gift - it just needs a sharp edge ....

Here's a unique pattern I got off of Ebay recently. Maher & Grosh swellcenter unequal end bolsters,3 backspring, with a spear, pen, saw and screwdriver blade. All 4 blades are stamped.M&G called it their new combination knife no.H.S.The and is from a 1909 catalog.

Lee,I would make a somewhat educated guess and say Ulster. The reason being the sawblade has the profile as one on Ulster cokebottle hunters.Smaller but the same.

Joe the no name pruner has better stag on it than just about anything made the past 80 or so years. I wonder how they managed to get such NICE stag on a regular basis back then, on top of that they made it so thin and trim.

Thanks, Paul.
Yeah, great stag for sure. Not bad on the pile side either.
I guess there was plenty to choose from back in the day. They were the masters; the life long cutlers.
Thank you, Dimitri.

Nice group of pruners Joe ... No doubt that stag is stunning on the unknown - my guess is Sheffield made... "no stag like the old stag" ...
