Some great shields above all ::tu:: ::tu:: ...

I have a question that was started in another thread but fits here... I know some companies no doubt made their own shields - some had their own unique shields and one can see slight variations on Federal shields across companies suggesting again each company made their own - but the shields that are exactly the same across cutleries had me thinking if there was a retailer that sold shields to many companies (for example on the Traditional Hunters thread Challenge, Claus and Wilbert knives all had the same shield - and Challenge may have made the Claus & Wilbert which may explain it) ... So the question is "Was there an old retailer of shields that sold to cutleries across the industry in the same fashion that handle companies (such as Rogers) supplied many cutleries???

Thanks MB. The size and variety of my collection is a testimony of my psychosis. ::facepalm:: However, it's entertaining and it's legal! ::super_happy:: ::rotflol::

Here's another example of a shield on a fixed blade knife...

An interesting question. One that I don't have an answer for. If a demand for something exists someone usually tries to supply it so it's a possibility.

Charlie, I'm fascinated by those "cigar band shields" and some day I'm going to jump right on top of one. Someday. ::nod::

A cigar band center bolster sure does dress up a pocket knife, doesn't it?

Here are a couple of Christmas editions you might like.

It's a shame that we may not see any more from Queen Cut Co. I hope they find a way to continue.

Unfortunately we won't be seeing any more from this cutler... :(

The recent article in Knife Magazine say Queen will be back making knives soon, I guess there was a cash flow problem due to employee theft!

That's good to hear! ::super_happy:: The last I heard they had stopped production and were going through a reorganization, their return was questionable.

Maybe reorganization translates to getting rid of the thieves. ::uc::

Maybe the thieves were corporate officers. A cash flow problem big enough to stop production sounds like high level embezzlement. Just guessing. ::shrug::

Very unusual, indeed...and very cool.

Now that we've seen something old, here's something new (well, comparatively new, anyway)
