Re: Terrier Cutlery Company
If one wishes to really understand how scarce nice Terrier Cutlery Company knives are, they should do a daily Ebay search for them as I do. Even bi-weekly would work.
They very rarely appear on Ebay out of the hundreds of thousands of knives listed at any given time. Ebay is the largest vintage knife show in the world and there are Terrier knives listed only very seldomly.
For anyone interested in owning a nice one, here is a 3 3/4" dogleg jack in quite excellent condition.
Not My Knife. Not My Auction. I'm Not Bidding. I Do Not Know The Seller.
I already have one of these, though I must say, I like the bone on the Ebay knife better.
It's pricey, but if I needed one of these, I would be an active bidder.
The knife is, at least, one-hundred and four years old.
I suspect the requisite opening bid will probably win this knife or possibly a counter offer, if allowed.
There aren't enough collectors or dealers that truly understand what quality knives were produced with the Terrier logo.

Go for it, David. We can postpone the other two. They aren't going anywhere.
I just looked at the expanded photos. That bone is absolutely beautiful.

Re: Terrier Cutlery Company
Robeson Cutlery Co. made a lot of scissors. They had whole display cases of nothing but scissors.
I have never been interested in buying a pair.
However, a kind AAPK member alerted me to this pair on Etsy, another Internet auction site.
These are marked TERRIER CUTLERY CO. / ROCHESTER, N.Y. in two lines.
I have never seen or even heard of, a pair of Terrier marked scissors.
I found them interesting enough to buy, so I did.
8 1/2” long. Fairly heavy duty.
Some patina/tarnish, but overall in great condition. Still very sharp and cut all the way to the tips.
Probably the only representative pair I’ll ever buy, though.

Re: Terrier Cutlery Company
Charlie, even if you aren't really interested in scissors, those are a nice addition to your Terrier collection.

Re: Terrier Cutlery Company
Thanks to all. Yeah Ken I hear you but I have had celluloid knives in a wooden box with other knives with no problems since the early 60’s and that terrier is a hundred years old with no issues. On the other hand I have read horror stories. Ibdennis of Oregon knives has a real good article on that subject. And actually I have one that is starting with a subtle uneven surface that you can feel when you run your hand over it. Just buy and pray!! They can be beautiful

Re: Terrier Cutlery Company
Had been wanting one forever. Finally came across this at a small junk store. I walked around the store accumulating two big handfuls of miscellaneous stuff and then dropped it all in a pile by the cash register for the owner to look over and assign prices to. When he came to the knife he held it up to the light, shrugged his shoulders, and said, "Old Pearl knife.. Eh... $1"
Even though the condition is far from mint, it was definitely worth $1!

My one TERRIER. A barehead jack, softblack scales. 3-3/8". Iron liners & bolsters. Big blades for a smaller knife. Certainly not up to the levels shown here. J.O'.

Re: Terrier Cutlery Company
This just came in today. Looks like it has been cleaned but if so they did a good job. I really really love it. Special thanks to a special person for his help and selflessness. Thanks so much Charlie!

Re: Terrier Cutlery Company
Congratulations Kevin.
If I remember correctly, the seller's auction description suggested it might have been cleaned.
Still a nice knife and I believe the only Terrier Coke Bottle Folding Hunter I have ever seen.

Thanks to all ! Yes he did say it was possible. His father in law was a collector. They are liquidating his estate, very nice folks to deal with. I also bought a couple of kabar coke bottle from him to show how much better terriers are
