I have to admit it surprised the heck out of me. Boxes have not been going for that much as I've seen these past few years unless they are American auto boxes like Press Button etc. Not sure but hope the trend is going to keep going. A Miller Brothers box just sold for over 200 also.

Darrell, I'm sorry. In what regard?

This is probably one of my favorite threads. To think that the cardboard box has lasted this long amazes me. This is a mailing shipping box direct from the Remington factory with a 1 1/2 cent stamp on it. W. H. JENSON was very famous archaeologists in Brown's Valley, Minn. I haven't found any history on Benson - Quinn Co, other than they are a current grain elevator and commodity company.

Dan,the one on the right is a rare one indeed. The other 2 are fairly common, but the middle one looks like new. ::tu:: ::tu:: I see more KK, Schrade and Case boxes than anything else at shows, and 99 out of a 100 Case boxes are pumpkin boxes.

Thanks Roger. The seller who had these did have quite a few other older and very nice ones (no Case pumpkin), wish I had thought to take a picture of the boxes he had for sale. ::doh:: He was the only seller, at the OKCA show, that I saw with any boxes.

I attended the Lehigh Valley Knife Show last Saturday (their first spring-time show & my first knife show). There was a dealer that had a dozen or so old knife boxes he was selling for $80 a piece... New York Knife Co., Keen Kutter, & others... for the old Schrade Cutlery he wanted $90. Seemed a bit much to me, but I'm new to this hobby. It seems off that the boxes should sell for more than the knives! ::shrug::

Later on that afternoon, I stopped in an antique shop in a nearby town and found an Ulster Knife Co. box for only $14. Needless to say it came home with me as my real prize of the day.
'til later....

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I have to say this has been one of my most favorite reads in the last few years. I love all this old knife advertising, and box labels. Thanks to all those who have posted photos. I went through all 25 pages.

Most of the old knife boxes were really work of art.
