A puuko sheath has a much different process than a normal sheath: carving, stretching, stitching, and dyeing.

Nice work Tony!
I have built a couple puuko sheaths, one for a puuko and another a puuko style for a fish knife.
They are a bit different but I like making them.

Beautiful work Tony! Do you have a heavy duty machine, for the stiching...or do you do it by hand?

Thanks Wally. Beautiful sheath you have there.

Dale, these are the first puuko sheaths I have made. The leather I used was not exactly correct. It did not draw up tightly as planned. Thanks.

Doc, thanks very much. I do not have a machine. All of the stitching is done by hand. Sometimes I use a drill press, followed by an awl, for the holes. Sometimes just an awl, depending upon the thickness/stiffness of the leather.

That is extra amazing...that you are doing all of stiching by hand. Looks so perfect!!!!!

Tony I can't figure out if you are a leather worker or a knife maker. I guess you wear many hats and all well. ::tu::

Very attractive sheath Tony, well done. ::tu::
Just curious, is it a belt or pocket model?

Thank you sir. This is a belt sheath, but it has a low profile loop so it can be carried in a pocket. The loop is attached with brass rivets. I will get a pic of the back side.

Beautiful! You must be proud of your work! How much would your cost to make a sheath for a buck skinner be???

Thank you. I currently have “work overload syndrome.” Usually my leather time is occupied by sheaths for knives I have made.
I have built a few sheath along for other knives. They start at $50.

I like the coffin shape of the sheath. It and the knife compliment each other. ::nod:: ::tu::
