Yes it is Steve. A VERY stout sheath indeed. The knife itself is of excellent manufacture. The flat grind is flawless.I usually like to sight along the blade in a strong light to check for any waviness in the grind and there is none on this knife.

Fabulous piece of art. Wow that's pretty. The edge grind is something else. Ivory, stone, maple, leather, Damascus. Nothing left out. Beauty.

Top knife is by Canada's Bob Patrick, and bottom is by F.Velasquez. I love the colors in the Patrick and the bottom knife is some kind of pre-ban ivory and a nice old school type sheath with brass fittings. ___Dave

Here are two Jeff Hebeisen knives with carbon fiber handles. I should have taken these pictures during the daylight hours or get a better camera, or maybe learn how to use the one I have.____Dave

I took the top (macedon ivory) Doc Molenaar knife hunting one year and shot two deer first thing in the morning when it was about 10 below zero. The knife has a fairly thick blade and the fat froze to the blade and almost stopped cutting, and was too thick for the deer's heat or anything I could think of to warm it. I needed my jack knife that was buried under several layers of clothing to finish the job. Now when it's cold out I carry a thin blade to field dress deer.____Dave

Thanks guys. Mountain Man, yeah, that's what attracted me to it. From what I've seen, Patrick makes bigger and fancier knives and not a lot of hunting knives and they all seem to have something unique about each one. He really is an artist with his own style. This one is a little bigger and thicker than I'd usually take to the woods. ___Dave

This is a decently made Hen & Rooster Bowie. Carries a 9" blade with 5" handle. Rugged and a good chopper.

Nice bulldog dogleg, I have to agree with you Dave on the usefulness of a thick blade for field dressing deer. I have made over 600 knives and most are made from 1/8' stock or forged to that thickness. Makes me wonder why Randalls are so popular, most of those are made from 1/4" stock. I guess they have their place but not so much for field dressing game. My opinion only after 50 plus years of hunting. ::handshake:: Terry
