Show off your fixed blades!
Re: Show off your fixed blades!
Be proud to own any one of those 3. Great looking knives. I would say the first one is my favorite.

Nice knives with strong family resemblance. I want to complement you on your photograph as well. Nicely done.bigbore wrote:These were bought from different makers but i think they complement each other

I like the downward curved guard; gives it a sword like appearance.

Re: Show off your fixed blades!
I was surprised to learn that I did not have one of these, as my accumulation of Schrade 165s is very complete. Well, anyway, I remedied the situation.

Wow Cal, your DU 165 is MINT, and so is sheath. I hardly ever have seen a 165 with the original pointy tip as perfect.
Here is my new arrival: 8 3/8" "Beretta U.S.A. R.W. Loveless Design". Back tang marked "Japan". Handle is a black checkered hard rubber-like substance, very comfortable in hand feel.
These were made by Hattori one of the very best of the smaller Japanese knife making companies. Most of these have an exotic hard wood handle one of which recently sold on ebay for $275. Being made by Hattori makes these very desirable to collect or use. I paid $60 for this one. I suspect most bidders/lookers did not know it is a Hattori knife.
Here is some very helpful Hattori info with pictures of 'the sleepers'. http://hattoricollector.com/2015/10/01/ ... and-valor/

Re: Show off your fixed blades!
That Beretta looks like it would be a very practical knife. Best for skinning but adequate for most other things. Loveless pattern knives have become famous for a reason. Some others have become equally famous without a reason (that I can deduce) (not naming names).

Here's my Frank Barteaux I picked up at a yard sale. Any more info would be great. It's engraved 4-5-26 to Gene from E.P.H

Anybody know where/who this knife is from. The writing on the knife appears to say art on but I'm not sure. I really like the shape of it and and how it feels to hold it. There is rust on one side which makes me want to restore it. I wanted to check here first to see if that would hurt the value in the case this is worth any $

Re: Show off your fixed blades!
Bought this Western W66 off of Scott back in September (no sheath).
Of course, Scott being Scott, he just can't stand to send out something without including something on the side. This hand carved spoon is slicker'n a cat's a**. No. Seriously. It's really slick to the touch. I keep it on my desk and pick it up and stroke it occasionally, marveling at how he got it this slick.

Philco, great looking knives. I like them but have never bought one (yet). Those are nice looking. May have to scratch that itch before too long.
