John, as best I recall the Ruana was early 80s.

WelderBob, It strikes me that your Marbles defines the word "classic." A beautiful knife. ::tu::

Those old Marbles are one of the classics that define the verb 'coon finger.' Makes ya smile. Meanwhile, although Rudy Ruana died in 1986, he was having some real health issues long before that and his soninlaw Vic Hangas was already probably making some of the knives in the early 1980s and I suspect Rudy was electro-etching his "bullwhip" signature on them. I think your knife dates to the 1970s. Soon, Vic's boys Mark and Mike started making the knives, along with their dad, Vic, and the R.H. was dropped from the stamp when Grandpa died. Now Vic is even older than I am  but Mark and Mike are making Ruana knives that would make Rudy swell with pride. They are superlative. Think Randall and Skagel but way different. Some of the finest traditional hunting knives.

And to go with that a KA-BAR model and a slightly different Cattaraugus floater.

Better toss that one in the water Dmitri!! It does not float. It was made for a lighter weight camp/backpack knife using the same blade as the Catt floating knife of which there are two models, the one shown and one with the same blade as your Featherweight. Shown here is also a wood handle Featherweight although it doesn't say it on the handle but on the blade, and it doesn't float either.

K7K, that KA-BAR floater is a rare bird, I have only had two and only seen a couple others. It also does not seem to appear in any KA-BAR catalogs or brochures.

Gene: Thanks for the info.I didn't realize they were rare;I just thought it was a neat knife.I wish the blade wasn't nicked up. Have a Colonial floater and several foreign models.

Ray, that is a nice collection of floaters!! I have always liked them myself, especially the American made fixed blade ones. That Catt you show is another hard to find knife. I have seen them with red and yellow handles besides the yellow and blue like yours and mine.

Thanks for the kind words. The Catt was the last one I picked up and it was very inexpensive($7).Still has the etch and the original sheath.
The top folding knife works like the old Barry Wood folders. You pull the handles slightly apart to disengage to lock pin and rotate the handles around until they lock into the open position.

The makers for the folders are(top to bottom):
Unmarked
Lunawerk Italy
Teja & Rosa Italy(more famous for their fine switchblades of the 1950's)

The fixed blades are(top to bottom):
Lunawerk Italy
Japan
KA-BAR
Colonial
Cressi Italy
