Vintage Sheffield Lockback Whittler For Sale

Post by kootenay joe »

This vintage Sheffield knife is a 3 1/2" lock back whittler pattern. All 3 blades are marked: "XLALL/Parkin &/Marshall/Sheffield". LG4 gives the dates as 1770-1910's for this marking.
Action on all blades is 'perfect' and there is no play and the blade lock is 100% solid yet easy to release by depressing the spring end. The shield has the name "Thos. Proctor". There are no cracks or chips in the pearl handles.
This knife has been buffed.
I posted this knife in the Questions forum to make sure there is no doubt about authenticity: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=58615

$325, shipped

Open to offers. Have bills that need to be paid so feel free to send an offer that you think is 'decent'.

Thought for a moment it might be the knife of a long-lost relative of yours, then I realized you are a Procter not a Proctor. I bet the similarity of the name is one of the things that originally attracted you to the knife.

Yes, seeing my name (almost) on the shield, meant i had to buy it. Proctor/Procter it seems were all part of the same 'group', some chose to spell it 'or' and some 'er' back when not everyone could read or write.
