I looked at your web site and you have some beautiful creations. Your fixed blade knives are dazzling. Very unusual to see a hand made folding knife for $35. I see these have a tang stamp on them, but can not read it. How are these stamped?

I believe you will find that Knifeslave's knives (this folder plus some of the fixed blades he's posted) are Chinese factory made knives not custom knives made by an individual bladesmith. The websites DHgate and AliExpress, which sell Chinese goods, list many similar knives, though I admit I saw none that were identical.

The description of this folder on the knifeslaves website (and the shell handle one next to it on the webpage) lists this knife as: "Damascus Steel Blade,Genuine Handmade Leather Sheath,Stag Horn" which it clearly is not.

http://www.knifeslaves.com has some very attractive fixed blades for sale and they may well be worth the listed price. However, be aware of their origin.

If I am wrong knifeslave please correct me and accept my sincere apology.

Come on man, you are talking to knifer dudes here. We KNOW knives. The 2 blade Trapper in post #1 is from Pakistan. I have one like it. The light etch "Pakistan" is easily rubbed off.
You don't make knives for Steel Warrior. They are made in some large knife factory in China.
None of your knives are hand made or part custom. They are all low end production knives from China or Pakistan. Some i'm sure are good knives so be HONEST in your listings or go away and scam somewhere else.

I could see someone who knew nothing about knives coming to AAPK, seeing a store here and thinking "the knife must be right and a very good one because these people are knife specialists". i.e. not understanding that the 'stores' are not overseen in any way.
I think it is a duty of all AAPK'ers to help and help 'protect' those who come here and are brand new to knives.
I do not have a 'store' here (but i should !) but those who do should be a little alarmed. If a store here is scamming buyers the word will get out: "Don't shop at AAPK" i.e. most people (except for 'us') will generalize rather than focus on just the 1 guy who was the 'bad apple'.
His answers got ridiculous. He might be posting from Nigeria like the guys who phone me saying my computer is being used by criminals.

I don't think we have a junk knife problem on AAPK, however one way to discourage fly by night knife sales on the "Knives for Sale or Trade" forum or in AAPK stores is to require not just AAPK membership but also a minimum number of forum posts. When I joined one of my stamp collecting forums I could neither buy or sell on the forum until I reached 50 posts.

That policy does not prevent someone from reaching the goal by making a bunch of trivial posts ("Nice knife Joe") but it ensures that someone has to work a little to get AAPK privileges and will tend to weed out the quick buck artists.
