F. Herder And Son
F. Herder And Son
Added a F. Herder and Son sheepsfoot jack to the pile today. In business 1727 to 1993. Looks to be unused, possibly ivory covers, pattern is pretty close to a Eureka Jack and has the wrap around spring like a Eureka, nice size at 3 3/4". If anyone has anymore information on the knife or the company it would be appreciated.
Re: F. Herder And Son
Looks like one of the knives that were sold from Herders showroom.

Is that a Candle Jack? Very cool.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Re: F. Herder And Son
The Friedr. Herder company is still around. I contacted them before the pandemic started in 2020 to ask about a particular knife I had acquired and was told that they no longer make pocket knives, only kitchen cutlery now. I don't know the whole story but believe the trademark/brand was bought by new owner sometime in the mid 2000s. The great thing is they are still making knives in Germany. The Herder brand is older than Boker. German website is below if you're interested:

I have two horticultural Herders from that collection John. Yes, and they made some very quality pocketknives Revovler. Here's one I tried to buy several years ago,but it went well out of my reach .
