Robt Klaas Pocket Knife

Post by StrawHat »

A lady brought this knife to me and asked that I sharpen it. She also asked if I knew anything about it.

I don’t have a clue except that it was made in Germany.

Any tidbits would be appreciated.

Thank you.

It's a whittler "swell center" pattern made by Klaas in Solingen. Not sure what the scale material is but it sort of looks like jigged delrin to me. Klaas has been around a long time but that one looks a little more modern compared to the older ones.

Thank you for the info.

It is an older lady who brought it to me and supposedly belonged to her father. Not a bad little knife.

Also called a "Kissing Crane"" Is it stamped Solingen on the pile side of the tang?

I agree with Revolverguy that the handles look like Delrin. If I remember correctly, Delrin came into use as knife handle material in the early 1960s. That hazy look on the handle is very characteristic of Delrin that has been laying around for a few years. Try wiping it down with some oil and it will probably look a lot better.

I will wipe it down with some mineral oil and see how it looks.

Thank you for all the info.

Thank you Greg,
I returned the knife to the lady and she was pleased. Her dad carried it and she had a spot in her purse for it.
