Wade & Butcher shell puller lockback
Re: Wade & Butcher shell puller lockback
Newb question alert...what was the purpose of the shell puller? Were the old shotgun shells (brass?) prone to becoming stuck in the chambers? Never really occurred to me before, as modern guns don't seem to have that problem. At least the ones I've shot, which is a fair number.

Beautiful old shell puller!
If I’m not mistaken it was the old paper shells back in the day had a tendency to swell and the ejectors sometimes couldn’t get the job done.SteelMyHeart85420 wrote:Newb question alert...what was the purpose of the shell puller? Roger,
Not my cup of tea either, but given the right opportunity I would have grabbed it just for the ‘cool’ factor. Thanks for showing it.

Didn't some of the old shotguns come without extractors? And the shells had to be removed manually.
