Class knives?

Post by Chefglenrd »

Has anyone ever heard of Claas? I have a Class Swiss style camp knife that says Julanko Solingen on one side and rostfrie stainless inoxydable on the other side of main blade tang. Email me please at chefglenrd at Gmail dot com. Thank you. I also have one similar that's a Wiss. It has Germany on one side and stainless AS1 on the other.

Claas is a German tractor manufacturer. The Challenger/Lexion products were built by them. They have a dealer network here in the United States, but I have only seen one of their products used locally--a disc mower for cutting hay. It was $3,000 used and beat up, so it had to be good. Their lack of parts availability (nearest dealer was two hours away, compared to fifteen for Kubota and 25 for Deere) was why we didn't buy it).

Claas currently has a few to my knowledge--Victorinox products with pretty full-color photos of the tractors printed on the scales. That's in the branded merchandise catalog, but it will have to be purchased through a dealer (which I learned when I was planning on ordering a few Siku Claas toy tractors some months ago).

These knives, all resembling the Victorinox Standard/Spartan were heavily used by German (and European in general) companies to advertise their products. In fact, I think there were more of them than Victorinox knives with European company logos. I have one with some kind of fake wood veneer that advertised some molding company--I took that glued on veneer off.
