Hey Russ sorry no one has welcomed you to AAPK. So first thing ::welcome:: ! Your knife does it have Roman numerals on the back side of the main blade tang? If it does could we get a picture of this please or tell me what is there. Robert Klass/ Kissing Crane Knives used the Roman numerals to date some of their knives. Other than the date of manufacture your knife looks to be a stag handled whittler pattern and a very nice knife. I am no expert but the back of the main blade tang should have something like 2735 XIV. Let me know what it says and we will try and get your knife dated,Ed. ::handshake::

Here is a post by one of our more knowledgeable people on the Robert Klass knives.

She was born in 1985.

The 3235 breaks down to a 32 pattern, 3blade, and the 5 is for stag.
The roman numeral dating system started in 1972 with XI, 1973 = XII, 1974=XIII and so on till 1986.

I hope this helps and again I apologize that no one has tried to help till now.

Doesn't the red shield imply a much later manufacture? ::shrug::

Hmmmm I am not sure on the designation of red on the shield as it relates to age. I know I have a Klass whittler made in 1975 I will dig it out and see what kind of shield it has on it. That is the best I can do as you can see from the above posts I was just transferring information from one post to the other. I will update with pics of some of my Kissing Cranes.

I'm not sure either. Just recalling something I think that I read.

Hey Tim, does the red shield have any relation to era of manufacture?
