Need some help with please

Post by GerryD »

This a single blade lock knife without and makers identification. Its a carbon steel blade with a simple folded brass scales. Its 7.75" open not including the bail and the blade is just under 3.5".
I've photographed is along side a turn of the twentieth century British army type knife. I have my thoughts that will share with you later but I don't want to muddy the waters.

Ive had a look at the link and some other sites referring to the Mercator knife and it looks like this could be a copy but without any stamps I'm not sure. gerry

In the last picture it looks like there is a number stamped on the bail. Or maybe it is just that my morning coffee hasn't kicked in yet.
