Hartkopf !

Post by keithw »

I just bought a Hartkopf trapper and was curious to see what others think of the brand.
To my amazement the only other post is one I had posted a few years back.
I really like them both.
Does anyone have any experience or opinions on them?

Edit: OK, I must have had some sort of brain malfunction about the number of Hartkopf posts... I searched again and found several. ::shrug::

Thanks,
Keith

Never heard of the brand before, but, I like 'em. The upper rear pin on your 2nd pictured knife looks to be very proud of the scale

I've also never heard of that brand before but they appear to be very nice and well built. That being said, what is the name of that weird looking blade on the second knife and what is it used for?

The second knife is a hunting folder. The weird looking blade is for fielddressing deer, the tip is blunt to prevent damaging the guts while making the first cut.Suppose they call it eine Aufbrechklinge.

Hey Keith. I have carried Hartkopf knives as EDC's for many years. I have found them to be very well made with quality materials. Good company IMHO. My favorite has a cap lifter and corkscrew. You must always be prepared. :D

Thank you very much Sir, I appreciate the information. I have never seen a blade that looks like that before. Very interesting. ::tu::

The only Hartkopf knife I have is a multi-blade gardener's knife. The Seton's needle is broken but otherwise it is in good shape.Handles are black composition or hard rubber.

Hello
I have a similar knife but with Frank Buster Fight'n Rooster stamping.
I suspect that yours was made after the roosters were discontinued, either by "BERTRAM CUTLERY" or "KRUSIUS BROTHERS" they both have now closed. It is probable that the stampings and blade stocks passed to Hartkopf/ Carl Schlieper/ German eye owners.
