WW1 period knives x 4

Post by GerryD »

Here we more out of the box I bought.
Here are four of the knives that I can open the blades and tin opener without breaking my thumb nail, well except the the Wragg tin opener. I have one other in good nick but its soaking in oil at the moment. They are all manufactured to the same pattern all having a jiggered bone handle a blade 3 inches long and 4.25 inches folded. I have read that these were given to the British troops in a Christmas gift box but they don't fit in the tin box but I suppose they could have been in a separate box but i have my doubts. Ive included another picture of the knives Ive not got round to yet they vary from French, German and British, its a right mixture! In all I started with about 70 knives and I think Ill finish up with about 35 good ones.
In order they are
HG Long
Woos & Sons
Wragg
J Clark

All of the posts you've made on these old knives are GREAT!!! Nothing like old stag. The only old sailor's(or soldier's)knife I have is an I*XL with checkered rubber(?) handles. The hardest blade to open on that one is the marlinspike!
