I see one bad thing about posting from an Android phone...
No way to edit the pics after you take them; just snap & post.
The phone is so small I can't tell if the pic is in focus or not.

Ahah! It's a Blur. How do you and the Tanto blades get along?

Re: Black knives matter
I like them if they are ground properly and can get really sharp, like this one.jerryd6818 wrote:Ahah! It's a Blur. How do you and the Tanto blades get along?
The point on it is really fine for fine detail cutting and the elbow in the cutting edge works well for precision cutting that requires a bit more force.
I didn't think I would like them and steered clear of them for years but once I tried a good one I was hooked.
I still like my traditional knives, but I almost always have one "tactical" knife on me in additional to traditional patterns.
There are a couple improvements I would suggest to Kershaw on the Blur:
1- Make it a true flipper and not an A/O.
2- A chisel grind on the blade would make it even sharper!
BTW, does anyone here have any observations about the BDZ-1 steel? This is the first time I have used this steel.
It is hard to judge it from a couple days use, but so far I am impressed.

When Al was alive (he died in 1992), his knives had the best fit and finish of any production knife of that time, better than the F & F of most custom knives of that era.
Al had a degree in design from a college in CA. He put that knowledge into the design of his knives and other products reflects, which those products show. Al also had a line of tactical gear he designed that reflected his penchant for designing items with real world practicality and style. I sure wish I had picked up one of his Tac Jackets when they were available!

Re: Black knives matter
I really like it. Although I haven't really used it yet and I've had it for almost 10 years. Got it for camping in the back country... and I've been camping once since then.FRJ wrote:I've got a Trailmaster. How do you like yours?
So I just take it out every once in awhile and fondle it.
Re: Black knives matter
Well, like you, I haven't used mine a whole lot either. I am really impressed with the design of it. It seems like a real good fit for me.
I'm glad to have it around weather I use it or not.
Thanks.

Re: Black knives matter
Yeah, that Trailmaster is a hoss of a knife. I imagine it could make short work of removing body parts. I feel extra manly just by holding it.

Wouldn't that knife be considered a traditional? Or should I ask, what really differentiates the modern tacticool from an old school?Lansky1 wrote:As a traditionalist, I didn't think I would ever support Black Knives Matter, but after recently picking one up of the ebony variety, I'm now an advocate ...

I thought we were just talking black knives which is why I posted it. It we're talking tactical only, I guess it doesn't apply ...gwelker62 wrote:Wouldn't that knife be considered a traditional?
