Nope Jerry, it's not speedsafe...but due to the angle of the thumbstud and the construction of the knife, it opens up with just a tiny little flick of the wrist, by far the smoothest thumbstud-opener I've ever handled, just a great super heavy duty workhorse of a knife!
Any yes I agree, I love the fact that they have a "born on" date on the blade, that would be a really nice bonus if they did that with all their blades...or at least the US made ones.

A black handle Scallion next week and I think I'll be finished with them. I picked up this display to go along with what I have. It's kinda cool. The blade is not sharpened (and is etched "Sample: Not Sharp"). There's a red LED in the upper left corner (looking at it) that flashes. It will be interesting to see how long I can put up with that.

...Nice loookin' set there Jerry! I'm still eyeballin' ol yeller there....
I'm pretty sure they offer some other color schemes on the scallion too though if you really want to be a complete-ist about it. ...Believe I've seen a rainbow one somewhere.....

Yeah and a pink one too. The rainbow is too much $$ and I have no desire to own the pink one. I'm just going to get a black one and quit. I don't have a burning need to own all the colors.
Make knifegirl1 an offer of $29 on this one. You only get three chances but if it's like the others I bought from her $29, $30 or $31 should be accepted.

Both are available in all black. The Scallion is a little more difficult to find and both are usually more expensive than some of the other models.

I've noticed two new colors for Leeks. Orange and Purple. For some odd reason, I'm pretty hot for orange so I had to have it. It came in today's mail.

John -- If you get something, make sure you post it.
I wish they would release some of the other bright primary colors. Red, blue, yellow, green. Although, I think I did see a red Leek.

Hey Josh, nice pile of Kershaws!
Have you checked out the Piston yet? Now that is a fine looking knife, large, lightweight, speedsafe, US made,...I've been eyeballing it for a while now, it's gotten great reviews, it's definitely on my Kershaw "get list"...
I'm don't know if you ever view "nutnfancy" 's reviews on youtube, but he's got a really good review of it...check it out.

Yeah Jerry, she's a big 'un that's for sure! Nice thing about it though is it's got the inset liners, so it's pretty lightweight and slim despite it's size....
...and I really like that it has the flipper style deployment of the speedsafe mechanism, similar to the way the scallion deploys, that has a real natural feel to it.
(btw, I handled one at the Badger show, but they were asking 80 bucks for it...I see it on eBay for low 60's though)

$53.09 on Amazon with free shipping. I looked and couldn't find it anywhere for less (even eBay). In fact, a good bit less than the next highest price.

OK guys, here's my latest Kershaw pick up, and I am lovin' it! I was looking to pick up something with a big beefy blade that I could use for basic food prep as well as normal edc tasks, yet was still light weight and pocket friendly...and oh boy did I find it with this one! Speedsafe with the flipper, high hollow grind blade with a big belly and still plenty of tip, super thin for easy carry, not to mention the deep carry clip which makes it virtually dissappear in the pocket. This one is a big winner, been carrying if for a few days now since I got it and am giving it two big thumbs up....Junie, Jerry, Scott, you must rush out and secure yourselves one of these asap, you won't regret it...
Here's the schpiel and the specs....
Kershaw Knockout Spring Assisted Knife (3.25" Stonewash Plain) 1870
It’s a Knockout in more ways than one. The Kershaw Knockout looks great, but the reason it bears this name is that a piece of the lightweight aluminum handle has been “knocked out” and inset with a stainless-steel plate to create a frame lock called the Sub-Frame Lock. You get the lightweight benefits of aluminum handles and the strength of a steel frame lock with integral lockbar stabilization. The Knockout also features SpeedSafe assisted opening. It’s equipped with the new deep-carry clip and is drilled for quad-carry: tip-up, tip-down, left- or right-handed.
Specifications:
Overall Length: 7.875" (20 cm)
Blade Length: 3.25" (8.3 cm)
Blade Steel: Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel
Handle Material: Machined Aluminum
Closed Length: 4.625" (14.3 cm)
Weight: 3.6 oz.
Made in the USA

Nice group there 'dog.
That black scallion on the bottom looks like it's seen some serious work! I've got that same knife, had it for 5 years and used it heavily, blade still jumps out like a shot and is solid as can be, great knife.
