Some of my Kershaws
Re: Some of my Kershaws
Yeah Jerry, she's a big 'un that's for sure! Nice thing about it though is it's got the inset liners, so it's pretty lightweight and slim despite it's size....
...and I really like that it has the flipper style deployment of the speedsafe mechanism, similar to the way the scallion deploys, that has a real natural feel to it.
(btw, I handled one at the Badger show, but they were asking 80 bucks for it...I see it on eBay for low 60's though)

$53.09 on Amazon with free shipping. I looked and couldn't find it anywhere for less (even eBay). In fact, a good bit less than the next highest price. http://www.amazon.com/Kershaw-1860-Pist ... B0059BLJ32

Re: Some of my Kershaws
OK guys, here's my latest Kershaw pick up, and I am lovin' it! I was looking to pick up something with a big beefy blade that I could use for basic food prep as well as normal edc tasks, yet was still light weight and pocket friendly...and oh boy did I find it with this one! Speedsafe with the flipper, high hollow grind blade with a big belly and still plenty of tip, super thin for easy carry, not to mention the deep carry clip which makes it virtually dissappear in the pocket. This one is a big winner, been carrying if for a few days now since I got it and am giving it two big thumbs up....Junie, Jerry, Scott, you must rush out and secure yourselves one of these asap, you won't regret it...
Here's the schpiel and the specs....
Kershaw Knockout Spring Assisted Knife (3.25" Stonewash Plain) 1870
It’s a Knockout in more ways than one. The Kershaw Knockout looks great, but the reason it bears this name is that a piece of the lightweight aluminum handle has been “knocked out” and inset with a stainless-steel plate to create a frame lock called the Sub-Frame Lock. You get the lightweight benefits of aluminum handles and the strength of a steel frame lock with integral lockbar stabilization. The Knockout also features SpeedSafe assisted opening. It’s equipped with the new deep-carry clip and is drilled for quad-carry: tip-up, tip-down, left- or right-handed.
Specifications:
Overall Length: 7.875" (20 cm)
Blade Length: 3.25" (8.3 cm)
Blade Steel: Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel
Handle Material: Machined Aluminum
Closed Length: 4.625" (14.3 cm)
Weight: 3.6 oz.
Made in the USA

Nice group there 'dog.
That black scallion on the bottom looks like it's seen some serious work! I've got that same knife, had it for 5 years and used it heavily, blade still jumps out like a shot and is solid as can be, great knife.

That's the reason I bought my Half-Ton. Now I have a Chubby on my watch list (same knife only made in Japan and slightly different handles).garddogg56 wrote:the half-ton I just like the clip.

Leg Puller -- No, they are not. For what ever it's worth, the Chubby blade is made of AUS6A Steel. The Half-Ton is made of 8Cr13MoV stainless. (I had to look that up. Google is my friend.)
I don't know squat about steel so that means nothing to me. I just buy 'em to look at so that's a double means nothing to me.

Re: Some of my Kershaws
What?? No one received a new Kershaw during the last year?
This 3000A (USA made DWO) came in yesterday's mail and it's ORANGE. It's used and the blade is dull but it's never been sharpened and still has the factory grind. It cleaned up quite nicely with a toothbrush and some Fast Orange. I just love these little knives.

Re: Some of my Kershaws
Been off and on about the Blur for a long time. Finally folded this morning when I found a new, NOT a blem, at what I consider a decent price and hit the "come to daddy button". I really wanted a red one but this Desert Sand & Black variation will do just fine.
The sellers picture isn't the best in the world but it will fill the void until the knife gets here. I'll get some better POP pictures when I receive it. (POP = Proof Of Purchase )

Nice looking Blur Jerry....I like the desert brown and black. Be careful you don't drop it on one of your frequent forays into the desert, or you will never find it again! What are your thoughts on the knife now that you have it in hand? Standard Kershaw quality? I handled a Blur a few times and liked it just fine. Seems like a solid knife.
