I was gifted a couple of Schrade 5ot knives, both of them have broken springs. They look like the photo below. I need 4 of them (there’s two per knife) if anyone has some in their parts bin I’d be happy to buy them.
Thanks.

I wonder - is there a mechanical reason why a manufacturer would use two thinner springs side-by-side instead of one thicker spring? I guess it's unlikely both would break at the same time.

I was wondering the same thing.
I know that the Mikov switchblades do the same thing with two thin springs instead of one thicker spring. I’m guessing that maybe there’s a little less tension with two thin springs as opposed to one but that’s just a guess on my part.

Schrade did this with lockbacks in the later years. It may have been a cost reason but I don't remember for sure.

Quite awhile ago I purchase some pre-made square spring stock for a switchblade repair. But I never got around to fixing that knife so I had the steel sitting around. I’m thinking I may be able to cut off the broken spring pieces, cut a groove into the bases and solder or peen a new spring into place. The width of the spring material appears to be about the same as the width of the two broken springs so if I can get the groove cut at the proper angle it may just work.
It doesn’t look like there’s any springs out there for purchase so I’m going to have to improvise. Still thinking through the process but I think it’ll work.
Thanks.
